Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery improvement research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne from ambulatory to inpatient and home and community-based services. On 1 January 2026 Alfred Health will come together with Kooweerup Regional Health Service Peninsula Health Bass Coast Health and Gippsland Southern Health Service to create Bayside Health a newly merged health service with more than 22000 employees caring for a community of over 1.2 million Victorians. The new health service will provide people with the best possible care with services that support them throughout their lives. The merger will also strengthen our workforce providing new training education and career opportunities. Subject to final approval on 1 January 2026 all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health.

Alfred Health is seeking an experienced and visionary leader for the position of Director of Digital Health Projects. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership and oversight for the planning delivery and governance of all digital health projects across Alfred Health. This role is responsible for establishing and embedding best practice project management methodologies ensuring alignment with organisational strategy and driving the successful execution of complex multidisciplinary digital health projects on schedule within budget and to high-quality standards.

The Director will lead a high-performing team foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement and act as the principal advisor to the Chief Digital Health Officer on all matters related to project delivery. The appointee will build strong relationships with clinical operational and technical stakeholders lead change management and communication strategies and represent Alfred Health in external forums and partnerships.

About our Department

The Digital Health Division is responsible for enabling clinical staff to deliver timely quality care to our patients and carers through innovative use of information technologies and through strategic management of information and data across the organisation.

Key Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in project management business ICT health or a related discipline
  • Formal project management certification (e.g. PRINCE2 PMP Agile)
  • Extensive experience in project program or portfolio management including leadership of multidisciplinary teams
  • Proven track record of delivering complex digital transformation projects in a large organisation ideally in a health care setting.
  • Strong leadership communication negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Experience in budget management benefits realisation and performance reporting
  • Commitment to Alfred Healths values and a patient-centred approach
