About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced communications and transformation leader to join our team as Safety Excellence Transformation Learning and Communications Lead. This is a pivotal role that combines communications leadership with driving a multi-year cultural transformation initiative focused on safety excellence across DS Smith.
Reporting to senior leadership you will act as a business partner and lead the communications agenda for the Health Safety & Environment (HSE) function while overseeing the successful delivery of our Safety Excellence programme in partnership with DEKRA. This initiative is about doing safety better togetherembedding behavioural and leadership tools elevating how we work safely every day and creating lasting cultural change.
You will shape how key safety messages are developed and delivered drive alignment across stakeholders and lead enterprise-level project execution that supports DS Smiths commitment to Safety Excellence. This role also requires strong leadership to manage a team responsible for learning communications and project coordination ensuring consistent high-quality delivery across 30 countries.
Key responsibilities include:
- Partnering with DEKRA consultants to align business priorities optimise resources and tailor solutions to operational needs
- Driving implementation of training and coaching initiatives globally embedding behavioural and leadership tools into cultural norm
- Leading communications for the programme including performance reporting and success metrics for executive decision-making
- Facilitating cross-functional alignment and knowledge sharing across governance teams site champions and pillar leads
- Establishing mechanisms to monitor engagement address barriers and ensure continuous improvement
- Deploying scalable safety training frameworks to embed continuous learning and capability development
- Leading a team (Learning Manager Project Coordinator Communications Specialist) to deliver Safety Leadership Development and Safe Decision-Making initiatives
About you
- Demonstrable experience in corporate communications cultural transformation or corporate affairs within a complex global matrix organisation
- Proven success in leading multi-channel communication strategies and large-scale change initiatives
- Strong leadership and management skills with experience in directing cross-functional teams
- Outstanding project management skills with the ability to drive change and deliver results across multiple geographies
- Working knowledge of HSE or HR processes systems and change management best practices
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate and build strong relationships internally and externally
- Drive determination and resilience with energy enthusiasm and a can-do attitude
Location: This is a hybrid role split between the office in London Paddington (3 days in office) and home (2 days).
