The PC Technician position provides level 2 desktop support within the Departments services team. Closes requests made by end users and other team staff. Uses decision making skills to determine the course of action for satisfying the issue and solving the problem. Provides technical skills and experiences to troubleshoot hardware software network issues and point of sale system bugs. Installs desktop operating systems and approved software. Patch management to department hardware and software. Also responsible for the management deployment and disposal of agency devices.
- Administer and support the Departments desktops mobile devices with an emphasis on Apple Products printers network telecommunication system and point of sale systems. Troubleshoots and develops solutions to tickets and phone calls to resolve them. Communicates with all levels of Department staff to track issues through completion. Maintains deploys and disposes of computer devices.
- Participates as a member of the team that designs develops and implements complex desktop server network telecommunication systems and point of sale systems; along with the end user support for accessing these systems. Establish hardware and software configurations for new systems and modifications of current systems. Monitors systems for performance and provides solution enhancements to these systems.
- Researches new desktop software and hardware tablet and phone technologies. This could include any new technology that we do not currently have. Informs other staff members and provides documentation on implementing these new ideas and how they connect/work with current solutions.
- Assists in providing information system policies and procedures related to desktop and peripheral devices. Understands and promotes statewide information technology policies and procedures. Keeps self help site up to date with new documentation.
- Other duties as assigned as related to the position (typically 5% - 10%)
| Knowledge Skills & Abilities (KSAs): |
The candidate will have thorough knowledge of/in: a broad knowledge of IT theory; computer communications protocol and peripheral equipment capabilities; computer hardware software network operating systems point of sale systems limitations and variances sufficient to evaluate end-user needs and provide support. Leverage new skills and experience to evaluate and understand issues in order to prescribe solutions. Knowledge of Windows and Apple operating systems with a heavy emphasis on Apple Products both Phone and Mac software and deployment. .
The candidate will have skill in: Analytical multitasking troubleshooting strong oral and written communications organized efficient and calm under pressure and stressful situations.
The candidate must have the ability to: Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal customers (both local and remote) as well as vendors. Ability to communicate with end-users effectively analyze requests and issues determine priorities and the appropriate course of action. Ability to work independently or with a team and adapt to new technologies changing environments projects and priorities.

The candidate must have an Associates degree plus one to three years of experience in desktop support or equivalent experience.
