Job Summary:

The co-op program is an educational and clinical work experience for the high school students. The individual is responsible and accountable for performing a wide range of patient care tasks. The performance of tasks allows the care team to provide quality care.

Job Duties:

  • The position will focus on providing patient care within a clinical scope of practice.
  • Fulfills designated responsibilities for ongoing continuum of care (non-assessment).
  • Identifies observes and documents the physical needs of the patient according to standards.
  • Assists with patient transfer and transport as needed.
  • Assists in problem solving trouble shooting and taking corrective measures in care and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
  • Assists in clerical responsibilities as required for task completion.
  • Suggests issues for improvement and offer solutions on issues.

Position Details:

This is a NEW CLINICAL CO-OP FOR THE 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR. Please see below for the student scope:

  • Review all safery and infectious control procedures
  • Assist with gathering supplies scanning requisitions and restocking
  • Observe specimen ordering collection and processing
  • Learn about blood specimens and other specimens collected in the lab
  • Learn to tie tourniquets and feel for veins
  • Practice on a fake arm
  • Learn to read and understand tests as it relates to healthcare
  • If over 18 allow to centrifuge and aliquot blood and urine
