Position Type | Part-Time: Shifts Available 1pm-6pm and 2pm-6pm |
- Plan organize and implement age appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
- Nurturechildren through purposeful programming dedicated to building achievement and belonging in youth and relationships among youth and within families.
- Supervisethe children classroom or site and all activities including ADA accommodations where appropriate.
- Makes ongoing systematic observations and evaluations of each child.
- Cultivatepositive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents. Engages parents as volunteers and connects them to the YMCA.
- Uses positive reinforcement techniques to address childrens behavioral concerns.
- Attendscheduled staff meetings trainings and completes all assigned on-line trainings.
- Attendand participates in family nights as well as program activities.

I can do this! What are the requirements
- Meets educational and experience qualifications established by state law - completion with passing grades of at least six (6) postsecondary semester units of specified early childhood education classes or have a valid Child Development Assistant permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. A teacher hired with six (6) units must complete at least six (6) additional units each semester within 2 semesters of date of hire. Units specified shall include courses covering child growth and development or human growth and development; child family and community or child and family; and program/curriculum.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Knowledge of acceptable child care and day camp practices.
- Demonstrates initiative to plan lead and participate in activities.
- All required online trainings must be completed before starting work which will be compensated for accordingly.
- Familiarity with mandated reporting and steps that need to be taken.
- Certifications (must be maintained and current at all times):
- CPR & First Aid certifications through American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Class must be an in person format. Online only or blended classes will not be accepted.
- Preventative Health through an EMSA recognized organization.
- Must have Health Screening and TB clearance (completed during the hiring process).
- Must have up to date TDAP MMR and Influenza vaccinations.
- Criminal records clearance (completed during the hiring process).
- Ability to plan lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor / indoor settings.
- This position may require the ability to stand and / or sit for extended periods of time wade in water in order to supervise children able to walk continuously at least ½ mile spend a full workday outdoors in any weather condition.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
