Role Overview
The Director of Project Management is responsible for the successful implementation of all physical production elements for events across the Northeast region. This role oversees full-time and freelance staff logistics and development within the Northeast Events Department. The Director of Project Management works in partnership with the Executive Producer who oversees the Producers. Periodic travel to client sites and event venues may be required. Within the Northeast this position replaces the current Director of Production title. This is a full-time in-office position in our Canton MA office. This position reports to the General Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership:
- Build and maintain a strong team of Project Managers Technicians and Staffing Coordinators.
- Lead and mentor supporting staff providing clear direction and fostering a collaborative and positive team environment.
- Execute cross-training initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and improve team reliability.
- Develop annual growth plans for all direct reports and provide verbal and written feedback related to those objectives individual performance and team-member retention.
- Motivate team members to excel and grow provide recognition when earned and document and escalate sub-optimal performance when necessary.
- Collaboration:
- Work directly with the sales operations and executive management teams to ensure all event projects meet objectives and exceed expectations.
- Recognize that our best work is accomplished when we approach projects as a partnership between our clients and our internal teams.
- Implement regular and special team meetings (daily weekly monthly or as needed) to facilitate transparent communication of project requirements as well as long term goals successes shortcomings and changes.
- Logistics & Operations:
- Oversee all logistical aspects of each event project including staffing plans equipment inventory and event assets permit acquisition and compliance with all safety and legal requirements. Work in conjunction with the Executive Producer.
- Growth and Development:
- Establish coordinated training and employment opportunities to aid full-time and freelance staff across all sectors of the company in developing and expanding their skills.
- Provide mentorship opportunities where applicable.
- Work with senior management to develop annual budgets for all physical production expenditures.
- Technical Advisement:
- Offer technical oversight for AEs Operations and Production Staff on projects to ensure the success of each event.
- Standards and Processes:
- Be an advocate for the success of the company and its teams.
- Develop promote and reinforce standards and processes in alignment with the companys values and long-term vision.
- Design and implement streamlined efficient workflow processes for all aspects of Physical Production.
- Maintain all necessary records and documentation related to projects staff and freelance labor.
What Were Looking For
- Extensive experience managing live events
- Proficiency in Vectorworks
- Experience working in a Microsoft environment (Excel Word Outlook Teams)
- Experience with event rental software systems
- Knowledge of Live Event technical systems
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Excellent Mentoring and Team Building Skills
- Excellent Problem-Solving Skills
- Deadline-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously over extended periods.
- Proven ability to manage time effectively work independently and remain self-motivated.
