Job Summary

Supports patient access by serving as a greeter operator or general scheduler. Serves as a greeter in the practice and/or answers the main telephone line for the practice location. Effectively greets customers and/or answers the telephone providing a positive first impression of PHI. Addresses callers questions immediately as appropriate. Triage calls to the appropriate PHI person. Schedules clinic appointments and ancillary procedures. May serve a scheduling role in check-out or the Call Center. Provides coverage for other Front Office positions as requested by the supervisor or manager. Demonstrates outstanding customer service.

Minimum Education Required: High school diploma or GED required.

Minimum Experience Required: One (1) year of experience as a customer service representative scheduler or closely related position is required preferably in the healthcare industry.

Performance Metrics: Candidate will have a target of 9 calls per hour to complete. Completing a call includes taking a call registering patient (if new patient) scheduling patient and completing any follow up.

Volume: Candidate will take calls for 9 of 10 clinics they have in their division.

Additional Qualifications:

Telephone scheduling and physician practice experience.

EMR Experience with EPIC

NextGen experience is desired.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Effectively greets customers and/or answers the main telephone line providing a positive first impression of Piedmont Heart Institute.

2. Addresses customers questions immediately as appropriate; avoids transferring the call to another extension if the customers needs can be addressed.

3. Triages calls or refers patients in the office to the appropriate person as indicated.

4. Provides directions and wayfinding assistance to patients and visitors.

5. Schedules clinic appointments and ancillary procedures.

6. Provides coverage for other Front Office positions as requested by the supervisor or manager.

7. Works as an effective member of the Front Office team.

8. Completes other clerical duties as requested by the coordinator or manager.

Knowledge Skills Abilities:

Possesses excellent written and oral English language skills.

Able to communicate effectively with patients families staff physicians and others cordially and professionally.

Skill and ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.

Ability to work as a member of a team.
