Overview:
The Project Manager will lead the complete migration of data from Google Workspace (GWS) to Microsoft 365 (M365). This involves a tenant migration for 10000 to 20000 users. The Project Manager works as a peer to Technical Architects. They can consult with Migration Subject Matter Experts. These experts handle system configuration and migration services. The Project Manager does not need experience with GWS to M365 migration. However they must know how to manage global digital transformation projects. They must also know how to rely on technical experts for solutions. The Project Manager does not need knowledge of recreational vehicle manufacturing. However they should understand vehicle product development manufacturing distribution sales dealer support and customer support.
In general the Project Manager will plan execute and control the project with a team expected to be between 10 and 25 FTE resources for the estimated duration of 6 to 14 months and an estimated effort of 8 to 20 FTE-years.
The project follows a System-V inspired structure with these phases: assess design build test release and accept. These phases apply across M365 workloads. After that the project includes a pilot migration hypercare and transition phase across GWS workloads. The overall structure is System-V. However the design build test and release phases will use Agile methods. These methods emphasize continuous integration and delivery.
The Project Manager must demonstrate skills in managing global teams across time zones and cultures. They must show results in delivering customer satisfaction. The Project Manager will be the main contact for the customer. They will manage project stakeholders including executives business units and end-users worldwide. They are responsible for customer and project communications. Project Communications includes regular and ad-hoc channels with stakeholders. The Project Manager must excel in managing the execute-control-plan cycle since this is part development project and part batch process service delivery. This means adapting plans dynamically while controlling scope risks and performance metrics.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage global teams of technical experts. Foster collaboration across diverse geographies cultures and time zones. Achieve high team performance through motivational leadership and resource optimization.
Manage stakeholders. This includes regular meetings with the customers IT executives and department heads as well as technical peers. Align expectations gather feedback and secure support for migration phases.
Oversee communications. Develop comprehensive reports verbal and written for multilingual updates (with a focus on French and English). This includes progress reports issue escalations and change notifications. Use tools like MS Teams email campaigns and dashboards.
Perform execute-control-plan cycle management with phase gates. Confirm detailed project plans. Monitor execution against baselines. Implement controls for quality and risks. Iterate plans at the activity level using Agile feedback loops to handle changes effectively.
Coordinate activities for specific areas with technical leaders and experts. These areas include Identity/Access Mail Files and migration.
Integrate feedback for continuous improvement. Focus on global participation. Manage risks issues and dependencies. Report progress via executive dashboards. Emphasize proactive controls and plan adjustments.
Oversee delivery by technical experts for pilot testing hypercare and transition to operations. Ensure readiness for global users.
Ensure compliance with data security standards Quebec-specific regulations and international standards.
Qualifications:
Mandatory:
Bilingual (in French and English) for effective communication in Quebec and with global stakeholders.
Preferred:
Experience with GWS to M365 migration.
PMP Certification. Agile certifications (for example PMI-ACP or SAFe).
Experience managing at least 2 full large-scale cloud migration or digital transformation projects.
At least 8 years of experience in project management.
Proven ability to work in a fast-paced hybrid Agile environment with international scope.
Minimums:
Bachelors degree in IT Business or a related field.
4 years of experience managing large-scale cloud migrations and broader digital transformation initiatives.
Proven ability in managing global teams. This includes cross-cultural leadership and virtual collaboration tools.
A record of success in stakeholder management. This includes building relationships with diverse groups and influencing outcomes in complex environments.
Advanced skills in communications management. This includes crisis communication stakeholder mapping and multichannel strategies.
Proven skill in execute-control-plan cycle management. This includes a record of delivering projects on time and within scope using hybrid methodologies.
