About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and qualified Electrician to carry out repairs installations testing and maintenance across domestic council properties. You will ensure full compliance with legislation and Quality Compliance Controls (QCC) while delivering high-standard work and maintaining accurate documentation. The role involves independent work as well as supporting multi-trade teams.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Installation Maintenance & Testing
Deliver high-quality electrical work across domestic properties including repairs rewiring upgrades and installations.
Complete NICEIC (or equivalent) certification for all completed work.
Carry out testing and inspections in line with City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent qualification.
Respond to safety concerns and take immediate action when necessary including calling emergency services.
Safety Compliance & Record-Keeping
Operate and maintain testing equipment ensuring annual calibration.
Maintain accurate records of all works materials and SOR details.
Use mobile/handheld IT devices for documenting job progress.
Follow asbestos procedures where relevant.
Ensure safe use and PAT certification for all electrical equipment.
Tools Vehicles & Materials
Use a range of power tools access equipment and small plant.
Conduct minor maintenance on tools and report defects.
Maintain vehicle security and operate council vehicles as required.
Manage stock levels in line with quality management requirements.
Communication Supervision & Team Support
Liaise professionally with residents client officers and supervisors.
Support and supervise apprentices trainees or work-experience staff.
Assist other trades to complete multi-disciplinary tasks.
Attend meetings participate in training and contribute to service improvement.
Service Delivery & Emergency Response
Support emergency call-out duties when required.
Assist with operational needs during borough emergencies.
Comply with Quality Management Systems and put forward suggestions for process improvement.
Requirements
Essential Skills & Experience
City & Guilds 236 Parts 1 & 2 OR NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation
IEE 18th Edition Regulations
City & Guilds 2391 (Inspection & Testing) or equivalent
Strong experience in domestic electrical works
Knowledge of wiring regulations and compliance documentation
Ability to read engineering drawings
Strong communication and customer service skills
Experience supporting or supervising junior staff
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Pre-Employment Requirements
Proof of Right to Work in the UK
Satisfactory employment references
Basic DBS Check
Compliance with all council policies including Health & Safety and Equal Opportunities
