    SPEECH LANGUAGE SPECIALIST
    Office of Early Childhood

    The Superintendent invites qualified and interested persons to apply for the positions of Speech Language Specialist within the Office of Early Childhood.


    DEFINITION:

    1. Assess children in the district who have suspected language articulation fluency and/or voice disorders.
    2. Provide direct and indirect services to reduce or eliminate speech and language difficulties that adversely affect a students academic performance and are determined to be outside therange of acceptable variations.
    3. Case Managers and provide therapeutic interventions for all students classified as Eligible for Speech and language Services.
    4. Collaborate and function as a responsible member of the Child Study.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
    1. An appropriate New Jersey Department of Education Standard Certificate or eligible for an Emergency certificate as deemed necessary by
    2. Masters or higher degree in speech-language pathology or its equivalent from a regionally accredited college/university.

    BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    1. Provide direct and indirect services to reduce oe eliminate speech and language difficulties that adversely affect students academic performance and are determined to be outside the range of acceptable variations.
    2. Case Managers and provide therapeutic interventions for all students classified as Eligible for Speech and language Services.
    3. Collaborate and function as a responsible member of the Child Study
    4. To evaluate children identified thorough a standardized assessment process and/or functional process in order to determine speech and / or language functioning and impact on educational performance.
    5. To generate a written professional report of the evaluation to include State and district mandated components.
    6. To participate in CST identification meetings involving suspected language disability students.
    7. To participate with CST to determine needs for speech and language impaired children and to develop appropriate goals and objectives to service these students.
    8. To prepare Individual Education Programs reevaluations and annual reviews for students Eligible for Speech Language follow federal laws state mandates and district policies and procedures.
    9. To schedule students and provide speech language services as mandated by the IEP.
    10. To prepare and maintain all case records for Eligible for Speech Language Services students.
    11. To prepare and maintain ongoing progress records for each student receiving speech language services.
    12. To provide written input to the IEP of the ESERS students Present Level of Academic and Functional Performance in the area of communication goals and objectives frequency duration and group size.
    13. To utilize State and district eligibility guidelines in determining eligibility for speech language services.
    14. To complete State and district reports as required.
    15. To consult with Nurse regarding hearing evaluation.
    16. To consult with administrator teachers parents and staff.
    17. Top order and maintain equipment materials and supplies.
    18. To participate in Continuing Education in the area of Speech and Language.
    19. To be knowledgeable in and utilize districts technological/electronic programs and equipment.
    20. Perform other duties as assigned.

    SALARY TERMS & AFFILIATION:
    Salary:$72250 - $112250
    Employment Period:Ten (10) Months
