POSITION TITLE: 3rd CLASS ASSISTANT RELIEF ENGINEER

DEPARTMENT: FACILITY SERVICES ENERGY CONVERSION CENTRE (E.C.C.)

RATE OF PAY: AS PER SCHEDULE A UNIFOR 2458 ENGINEERS COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT

HOURS OF WORK:40 HOURS PER WEEK; SHIFT WORK REQUIRED

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:
Reporting to the Chief Operating Engineer and / or their Designate the 3rd Class Assistant Engineer Relief position is primarily responsible for covering vacancies (ie: sick vacation and other leaves of absence) for existing Assistant Engineer addition this position assists in the operation and maintenance of the Energy Conversion Centre first call response to campus wide service requests and to monitor and control campus HVAC steam chilled/hot water compressed air and alarms utilizing DDC and BMS systems.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
for the Assistant Engineers for any type of lost time on all shifts.
in the operation and maintenance of the Energy Conversion Centre HVAC equipment on campus and other buildings assigned by the Chief Operating Engineer or designate.
to service requests and record by completing a blank Work Order.
to the maintenance mechanic group to support ongoing maintenance activities. This includes activities on campus including ECC.
adjustments and or minor repairs to HVAC equipment.
and monitor all building equipment utilizing the DDC and BMS control systems.
chemical tests and treatment of cooling tower pool and closed loop systems and make adjustments to maintain levels within required operating parameters.
preventative and emergency corrective maintenance of HVAC steam/condensate lines and associated equipment.
rounds which may include testing recording of readings and making adjustments within required operating parameters.
duties as assigned.


ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate will have:
A minimum Ontario Secondary School diploma
A minimum Class G Ontario Drivers Licence
A minimum valid Third-Class Operating Engineers Certificate certified by the Province of Ontario
Minimum of three (3) years experience with:
oMaintenance
oPower plant operations of a similar size and type
oWater chemical treatments
oCampus HVAC and services distribution systems
oDDC and BMS control systems
