About the opportunity

Working together in Benalla Wangaratta and Mansfield Wellways Albury Wodonga Health and Australian Community Support Organisation (ACSO) are working together to provide an easy way to access care and support for people aged 26 years and over who are experiencing mental health challenges. Together were aiming to offer services that meet the unique needs of individuals in our community whenever and wherever they are needed. Lived experience inclusivity and genuine collaboration are at the heart of everything we do.

As a Wellbeing Navigator Peer youll walk alongside people in our community on their mental health and wellbeing journey offering guidance through a range of person-centred supports and services. Youll help individuals connect with what matters most to them whether its achieving personal goals fostering healing finding social inclusion or strengthening their sense of belonging.

This is a rewarding opportunity to join a progressive mental health program where you will play a vital role in ensuring participants carers and their families receive valuable and supportive care.

About you
You have personal lived experience with mental health challenges psychological distress and/or substance use and youve navigated your own recovery journey. Through this experience along with formal study or training youve gained valuable insight that allows you to support others with empathy and understanding.

You share your story in a safe respectful and empowering way; helping others to feel seen heard and understood. You instil hope and support people in building connections and reinforce the strengths they already bring to their own recovery journey.

If your lived experience is at the heart of how you connect with and support others in our community wed love to get to know you!

You will also need:

  • Personal experience of mental distress and accessing and navigating healthcare services including mental health services and a willingness to draw upon your experiences and recovery journey to inform your work
  • Certificate IV/Diploma in Mental Health AOD or tertiary qualification in social science or 1 year relevant work experience in the Mental Health Sector or Intentional Peer Support Training
  • 100 points of identification
  • Evidence of right to work in Australia
  • Satisfactory National Police Check Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check or willingness to undertake
  • NDIS Worker Orientation module certificate free online course
