We are seeking a passionate MSN prepared Registered Nurse (RN) to provide clinical expertise and support to critical care nursing staff at our level one trauma center located in Madison WI.

  • Areas of support include a 16-bed state of the art Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) located in our brand-new tower (C2/5) at University Hospital with a tentative opening in early 2027.

    • MICU nurses provide comprehensive care for patients admitted with a wide variety of complex medical issues including acute respiratory failure sepsis drug toxicity poisoning and multi system organ failure. Interventions may include ECMO or CRRT.

  • Improve patient outcomes and healthcare quality by providing expert clinical guidance education and implementing evidence-based practices.

  • Act as a clinical expert for specific clinical populations; a minimum of three years of medical intensive care nursing experience is strongly preferred.

Qualifications
  • Masters Degree or doctoral degree in Nursing Required
  • Masters Degree or doctoral degree (DNP or PhD) with CNS role focus Preferred
Work Experience
  • 2 years of relevant clinical nursing experience Required
  • 3 years of relevant clinical nursing experience Preferred
  • Previous experience as a clinical nurse specialist Preferred
  • Experience in an academic medical center Preferred
Licenses & Certifications
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Wisconsin or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact Upon Hire Required
  • Basic Life Support CPR/BLS certification Upon Hire Required
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months Required
  • CNS certification Preferred
  • Certification in specialty area of practice Preferred
