St Gemmas Hospice is seeking to appoint a Spiritual Welfare Trustee to join our highly skilled and experienced Board of Trustees. This is an exciting opportunity to provide strategic leadership and oversight of spiritual welfare and wellbeing for patients families carers staff and volunteers ensuring that St Gemmas remains true to its ethos and values.
As a Trustee you will champion spiritual care across the organisation ensuring it is embedded in all services and meets the needs of people of all faiths and none in line with equality and diversity principles. You will act as the link Trustee for the Spiritual Care team chair the Spiritual Care Group and advise the Board on matters relating to spiritual wellbeing ethical issues and pastoral care.
Skills and Experience
We are seeking someone who:
Charity governance experience would be helpful but is not essential. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds who share our commitment to St Gemmas ethos and values.
Commitment
The Board is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the Hospice and assuring good governance. The Board is supported by three Committees Finance and Business Clinical Governance and Corporate Governance.
Spiritual Welfare Trustees are expected to contribute their expertise to the Clinical and Academic Governance Committee and engage with aspects of our wider activities such as Hospice visits and fundraising events.
The Board meets six times a year and the Clinical and Academic Governance Committee meets a further four times a year. Meetings take place at St Gemmas Hospice with the option to join hybrid meetings via Video Conferencing.
Board members are volunteers but will be reimbursed for out-of-pocket expenses.
