Data Business system Analyst

Position Description:

This role is hybrid and requires you to be at our client office at a minimum 5 days per month - subject to change at any time.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

Work with business stakeholders and SMEs to understand business processes data needs and functional requirements
Translate business requirements into detailed data requirements data rules transformation logic and mapping documents
Produce key BA artifacts including:
Business Requirements Document (BRD) / Functional Requirements Document (FRD)
Source-to-Target Mapping Documents
Data dictionaries metadata definitions lineage documentation
Process flows system interaction diagrams and data flow diagrams
Perform data profiling using SQL or other tools to validate business rules assess data quality and identify gaps
Collaborate with data engineers to ensure requirements and logic are accurately implemented in pipelines
Support design discussions by articulating business rules mapping decisions edge cases and dependencies
Work with QA teams to define test scenarios test data requirements and acceptance criteria for SIT/UAT
Assist in defect triage by analyzing expected vs. actual data outcomes identifying root causes and clarifying logic
Ensure all data flows meet compliance audit privacy and governance requirements
Participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning grooming reviews) and maintain Jira/ADO work items
Maintain traceability from requirement mapping implementation test cases
Contribute to standardizing templates BA best practices and reusable requirement patterns for future projects

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

Strong experience in gathering analyzing and translating business requirements into clear data and system specifications
Solid understanding of data concepts: data models data dictionaries lineage data quality rules metadata and transformation logic
Hands-on experience with Azure data platforms (nice to have):
Azure Data Lake (zones structures data classifications)
Azure Databricks / Spark (understanding logic transformations mappings)
Azure Data Factory / Synapse (ingestion and orchestration concepts)
Ability to work with SQL for data profiling validation and business rule verification
Experience creating source-to-target mappings (STTM) business rule catalogs data flow diagrams and functional specifications
Strong understanding of ETL/ELT concepts data ingestion patterns batch vs. real-time processing
Experience collaborating with data engineers architects QA teams and business SMEs to clarify logic and resolve requirement gaps
Familiarity with non-functional requirements such as data quality auditability data privacy controls and compliance
Strong documentation skills with the ability to produce clear BRDs FRDs process flows sequence diagrams and acceptance criteria
Excellent communication skills ability to collaborate effectively with business partners technical teams and product owners
Certifications (nice to have): CBAP IIBA Azure Fundamentals Agile/Scrum
