Job Summary: | The Deans Office in the College of Medicine at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Assistant Dean for Administration. The successful candidate will: - Lead strategic coordination and project management of key priorities initiatives and emergency issues on behalf of the Dean and Executive Vice Dean of the College of Medicine and serves as liaison to Chairs and other senior managers in the academic area communicating the College of Medicines (COM) priorities as designated by the Dean and following upon delegated tasks.
- Serve as primary liaison with COM UHD and other department heads on matters that may require the Deans attention.
- Oversee the supervision of operational staff in the COM Deans Office.
- Provide support to the Dean in strategic planning efforts coordinating activities.
- Implement the vision across College leadership and associated offices.
- Prepare letters that reflect the COM commitment to the chair candidate including proposed compensation (working with Senior Associate Dean for Finance to ensure financial commitments reflect agreements of the Dean and he candidate) and professional obligation. Ensure template language is updated and accurate (work with Legal Human Resources and University Hospital at Downstate when needed).
- Oversee process for Deans annual review and evaluation for all chairs. Coordinate preparation of announcements regarding Chair appointments to Departments and University community.
- Represent the Deans position in LCME accreditation efforts to ensure sustained progress across all standards and elements.
- On behalf of the Dean liaise with the Senior Associate dean for Assessment and Continuous Quality Improvement and the Faculty accreditation lead (for LCME) to continuously monitor areas that LCME has determined are in need of improvement.
- Demonstrate flexibility and perform other job related duties as the the position is not limited to the above.

Required Qualifications: | - Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts Degree.
- 10 years of job related experience with a track record in senior program management specifically in a academically focused school of medicine.
- Commitment to quality programs and data-driven program evaluation and Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Or a satisfactory equivalent combination of experience education and training to the above.
