Job Summary

Description

This position maintains a variety of areas of responsibility but will be primarily responsible for coordination and oversight of specific purpose projects. The position will be responsible for tracking project expenditures revenues and reconciling transactions in the TRU general ledger related to the projects. The position will oversee the coordination of monthly activity reporting and updating government reporting system (CIMS). This position will perform reviews and analysis of projects contracts and activities that require strong project and contract management skills and a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality.


MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Coordinate activities resources and information of multiple projects working with numerous stakeholders for each project.
  2. Reconciles and analyzes project expenditures budgets and forecast of specific purpose accounts including working with the Finance Department to identify adjustments to the GL.
  3. Prepares external project specific monthly and annual reporting and ad hoc internal reporting.
  4. Compiles analyzes and interprets a variety of project specific information and data. Develops reviews and improves project processes.
  5. Prepares working papers and other associated documents for project contract requirements.
  6. Reviews and verifies project costs entries and adjustments to ensure project remains in scope.
  7. Develops and produces routine and ad hoc management information reports for a variety of stakeholders.
  8. Provides financial and outcome reports to various governmental and non-governmental agencies as required in the procurement of external contract funding.
  9. Assist in the forecasting process including the budgeting of specific purpose funds. Works with the project team to identify and improve internal controls and processes.

Requirements

EDUCATION:

  • Business Degree with a major in Accounting


EXPERIENCE:

  • Five years recent related progressive accounting and project management experience including expertise in developing spreadsheets financial and analytical reports as well as project management processes


SKILLS KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES RELATED TO THE JOB

  • Experience in summarizing analyzing and interpreting financial data
  • Strong project management/contract management skills
  • Demonstrates skills of adaptability and versatility with administrative and facilitation skills to keep the project focused on its objectives and within scope
  • Excellent interpersonal organizational and communications skills
  • Demonstrated skills in planning and innovative problem solving
  • Strong experience using FAST and working knowledge of CIMS would be an asset
  • Working knowledge of a project tracking processes (Brightworks Gantt Charts etc.)
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Ability to cope effectively in an environment of changing priorities and reporting timelines
