Essential Functions:
The Superintendent is responsible for the development implementation and maintenance of a strategic planning process for school district functions.
The Superintendent assists the Mandan School Board in developing a clear statement of goals identified by the Board and communicate those goals and objectives to the staff and community in a manner designed to minimize problems and move the district forward.
The Superintendent assists the Mandan School Board in the identification of student achievement goals and shall implement programs including developing curriculum designed to achieve and evaluate progress toward meeting those goals.
The Superintendent supervises the development of systems for budget development purchase of goods and services accountability for expenditure of district funds and for timely analyses and reporting of the districts financial position to the Mandan School Board.
The Superintendent establishes procedures for communications between and among the Mandan School Board district staff the media the general public and other business governmental and educational organizations of the community region and state.
The Superintendent supervises the development of systems for the recruitment employment evaluation in-service and development and provide recommendations to the Mandan School Board regarding compensation and benefits for all school district staff.
The Superintendent represents the Mandan School Board in its dealings with city county state and federal governmental agencies and shall assist the Board in the development and pursuit of a legislative agenda.
The Superintendent supervises the acquisition construction maintenance renovation and disposal of all school district facilities and properties.
The Superintendent participates in all Mandan School Board meetings by assisting the Board president in the development of the meeting agenda by preparing background materials and analyses of issues brought to the Board and by preparing recommendations on all issues brought to the Board for decisions.
The Superintendent assists the School Board with the development of school board policy and shall establish rules forms guidelines and procedures to implement board policy. The Superintendent through this process shall provide continuous appraisal of all policies and regularly inform the Board as to the effectiveness of the operation of existing policies.
The Superintendent develops and implement plans for dealing with emergency situations and shall take the necessary steps in time of emergency to safeguard students staff residents and school district property.
The Superintendent performs other functions as necessary to the conduct of school district affairs and as requested by the School Board.
