As a Project Engineering Director at GSI APAC Region you will be responsible for leading the technical execution of complex and large-scale projects in the energy sector including power generation transmission and distribution. You will act as the main technical liaison between the customer and the project team ensuring that engineering deliverables meet all technical cost and time requirements. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the overall technical coordination and management of projects ensuring efficient communication with customers and internal teams.
- Ensure that all engineering designs are aligned with customer specifications budget constraints and project timelines.
- Coordinate the design reviews and manage the engineering activities for all project work packages focusing on large-scale complex projects such as HVDC and FACTS systems.
- Monitor project risks and opportunities providing mitigation strategies to ensure successful project execution.
- Oversee document control and configuration management ensuring all project documentation is accurate and delivered on time.
- Manage technical interactions with subcontractors and ensure the integration of their deliverables with the overall project plan.
- Ensure compliance with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) guidelines throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead Return on Experience (ROE) initiatives capturing lessons learned for continuous improvement.
Qualification / Requirements:
To be successful in this role you should possess the following qualifications:
- Experience: 20 years of engineering experience in the EPC (Engineering Procurement and Construction) environment particularly in the power generation transmission and distribution sectors (T&D).
- Technical Expertise: Mastery of key engineering processes such as plant configuration civil works control and protection hardware and electrical design.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead large-scale multi-disciplinary projects and inspire teams to achieve challenging goals.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal and presentation skills with the ability to convey complex technical messages to customers and internal teams.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to make informed decisions and resolve technical issues efficiently under pressure.
- Adaptability: Willingness to travel globally for short to medium periods and work in diverse locations.
Desired Characteristics:
- Mastering of key engineering processes such as Civil work Plant Design Engineering (Substation Layout Design) control &protection hardware System & performance studies or electrical design
- Proven success in technical project management on large-scale projects with complex organizational structures.
- Strong leadership and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence diverse teams and stakeholder.
- Knowledge of project execution risks and financial processes
- Willingness to travel globally and work in different locations for short to medium period.
- Demonstrated presentation skills capable to clearly and succinctly communicating complex technical messages to various audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to lead in dynamic and unstructured environments consistently delivering results.
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability with sound judgment decision-making abilities influences and the capability to inspires and team with vision passion and strategy.
- Global mindset and experience with high cultural and technical sensitivity suited to international project environments.
