JOB SUMMARY:Plan program and perform all types of laser operations required to produce a diversified line of sheet metal products in accordance with BOM sketch and part drawing specifications; often short run specials or new designs.JOB DUTIES:Drawing on thorough knowledge of laser cutting principles and production demands set-up adjust and operate a computer controlled laser cutting machine and loaderunloaders to cut single or multiple pieces from sheet and plate stock. Identify and clear alarms; inspect laser-cut and make adjustments such as program changes changing heads clean optics and focus as necessary to optimize cut and performance. Supervise and assist in general maintenance of machines; oversee and assist loadingunloading operations as required.Monitor requirements to plan and generate laser nests and nesting schedules to meet production demands. Use rule square caliper etc. to make set-up first piece in process and last piece inspection as charted in Q/C manual; sign off BOM as required.Perform other related work as necessary such as; operate small hand tools to perform ordinary operations like grinding/finishing material preparation and fork-lift crane or other material handling equipment to move or position material; set-up for instruct and demonstrate repetitive or routine procedures for others.Responsible for quality of own work requires the use of initiative and ingenuity to plan lay-out and perform unusual and difficult work when only general methods and trade practices are available and the making of decisions involving considerable judgment; instructions and guidance provided in new work variations set-up and operating difficulties. Work independently under general supervision.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:Requires shop mathematics as may be acquired by four years of vocational or high school education. Must be proficient with computers laser part-nesting software and able to read and understand NC code. Three to five years experience is required to gain thorough knowledge of laser cutting principles practices and techniques and to become familiar with procedures equipment operations and to attain proficiency and accuracy requirements.We Make it Easy
