This role is 40 hours per week with possibility of overtime and weekends shifts. Our ideal candidate demonstrates teamwork with the availability to workMonday to Friday with a possibility of overtime.

Job Goal:
Provide error-free braille materials to students and teachers with visual impairments.
Qualifications and Education
At least with High school diploma or equivalent
Experience
At least (2) Two years of experience in repairing and maintaining different types of equipment
Preferred Qualifications
Vocational technical or trade school
Previous braille experience(not required). Training provided to the right candidate.
Special Knowledge and Skills:
Basic proficiency in the use of a computer including a solid working knowledge of standard computer applications including MS Word Excel and Outlook
Self-starter with the ability to work independently with little or no supervision
Strong organizational interpersonal and communication skills
Keen attention to detail in all aspects of job
Manage and complete multiple tasks accurately and with sense of urgency
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers
Major Responsibilities:
Operate embossers to produce braille materials from various file types and burst embossed braille materials.
Participate in all production activities including collating and inserting tactile graphics and binding and packing of finished braille volumes.
Maintain an extensive working knowledge of various software programs including:
Microsoft Office
Microsoft Windows
Develop and maintain a working knowledge of basic braille layout and design.
Organize and maintain files for electronic braille materials.
Maintain an extensive working knowledge of various hardware devices:
High-speed braille embossers
Graphic braille embossers
Thermoform reproduction machines
Perform preventive maintenance on all machines; repair equipment as needed.
Preserve records and logs of equipment usage service and repairs.
Manage an inventory of spare parts for all machinery.
Advance braille skills in accordance with current braille codes.
Keep supervisor informed of the operational status of all equipment.
Provide technical assistance and services as specified by any applicable federal grant that funds this position.
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors/ Mental Demands:
Frequent use of standard office equipment
Prolonged standing
Occasional bending/stooping pushing/pulling and twisting
Repetitive hand motions (keyboarding and use of mouse)
Prolonged exposure to loud noise
Moderate manual labor required which includes production equipment disassembly/reassembly and the ability to pack move pick-up and relocate boxes weighing up to 50 lbs
May work prolonged and irregular hours work with frequent interruptions maintain emotional control under pressure.
