Key Responsibilities

• Design fabricate and repair precision tools dies jigs fixtures and gauges.
• Operate and maintain a variety of manual and CNC machine tools (e.g. lathes mills grinders EDMs).
• Interpret complex engineering blueprints schematics and technical drawings.
• Perform precision measurements using instruments (e.g. micrometers calipers gauges) to ensure adherence to specifications.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with tooling and production machinery.
• Conduct routine maintenance and preventative care on tooling to extend lifespan and optimize performance.
• Select appropriate materials and heat treatments for tool construction and repair.

Recommended Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized Tool and Die Maker apprenticeship program or 5 years of equivalent experience.
• Proficient in operating a variety of manual and CNC machine tools (lathes mills grinders EDMs).
• Expert ability to read and interpret complex blueprints GD&T and use precision measuring instruments.
• Strong knowledge of various tool steels heat treatments and manufacturing processes.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot repair and maintain complex tooling and dies.

Bonus Qualifications

• Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (e.g. SolidWorks Mastercam)
• Advanced welding experience (e.g. TIG laser welding for tool repair)
• Experience operating and programming CNC machining centers
• Knowledge of heat treatment processes for various tool steels
• Proficiency with CMM or other advanced metrology equipment
