Key Responsibilities

• Interpret blueprints sketches and 3D models to plan tool fabrication.
• Operate a variety of precision machine tools including lathes mills grinders and CNC equipment.
• Fabricate assemble and test new tools dies jigs and fixtures to exact specifications.
• Perform precision machining grinding and fitting of components to maintain tight tolerances.
• Troubleshoot repair and maintain existing production tooling to ensure operational efficiency.
• Conduct quality inspections using precision measuring instruments to verify tool accuracy and functionality.
• Select appropriate materials and heat treatments for optimal tool performance and longevity.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Tool Maker including completion of a recognized apprenticeship or equivalent on-the-job training.
• Proficiency in operating a range of manual and CNC machine tools (e.g. lathes mills grinders EDMs).
• Ability to accurately read and interpret complex blueprints technical drawings and GD&T specifications.
• Expertise in using precision measurement tools (e.g. micrometers calipers gauges CMMs) to ensure tight tolerances.
• Strong understanding of metallurgy material properties and heat treatment processes.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail in tool fabrication and troubleshooting.

Bonus Qualifications

• Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (e.g. SolidWorks Mastercam).
• Experience in CNC programming and operation.
• Knowledge of advanced metrology equipment (e.g. CMM optical comparator).
• Welding experience for tool repair and modification.
