The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and refine product designs from concept through production ensuring manufacturability.
• Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD models assemblies and technical drawings.
• Conduct design analysis including tolerance stack-ups and material selection for optimal performance and cost.
• Collaborate with manufacturing quality and supply chain teams to optimize designs for production processes.
• Support prototyping testing and validation of new designs and design changes.
• Generate and maintain comprehensive design documentation including Bills of Material (BOMs) and specifications.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks Inventor CATIA) for part and assembly design.
• Strong understanding of various manufacturing processes (e.g. machining injection molding sheet metal fabrication) and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles.
• Solid foundation in mechanical engineering principles including materials science statics and stress analysis.
• Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) for creating detailed manufacturing drawings.
• Proven ability to prototype test and validate mechanical designs.

Bonus Qualifications

• Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification.
• Hands-on experience with various manufacturing processes (e.g. machining welding injection molding).
• Proficiency in advanced simulation software (e.g. FEA CFD).
• Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
