The Opportunity

We partner with manufacturers across Lansing seeking Cost Accountants who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain standard costs for raw materials labor and manufacturing overhead.
• Analyze production costs variances and profitability reports.
• Perform inventory valuation reconciliation and obsolescence analysis.
• Prepare cost of goods sold (COGS) calculations and margin analysis.
• Assist in the preparation of manufacturing budgets and cost forecasts.
• Investigate and explain cost variances identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Support month-end close activities related to inventory production and cost of sales.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting Finance or a related field.
• 3-5 years of cost accounting experience preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and cost accounting principles (e.g. standard costing variance analysis).
• Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g. SAP Oracle) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical problem-solving and attention to detail skills.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with specific ERP costing modules (e.g. SAP CO Oracle Cost Management).
• Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI Tableau).
• Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma experience/certification.
• SQL proficiency for direct data extraction and analysis.
