Job Title: Head of Legal Italy
Job Location: Rome
As Head of Legal you will lead the legal and compliance functions of the Italian subsidiary of Huawei Italy. The role requires a seasoned legal executive with strong technical expertise in commercial technology regulatory and corporate matters combined with proven leadership in managing lean high-performing teams in a fast-paced innovation-driven environment.
The Head of Legal will act as a strategic business partner to senior management ensuring proactive legal risk management operational excellence and compliance with Italian and EU legal frameworks relevant to the technology telecommunications and renewables energies sector.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Legal Strategy & Business Partnering
- Provide expert guidance on commercial strategy contractual risk allocation regulatory implications and operational matters across sales procurement and operations.
- Anticipate legal and regulatory developments (EU and national) and advise the board on implications for business models product deployment go-to-market strategies and supply chain resilience.
- Act as primary legal advisor to the Country CEO and Huawei Italys management team ensuring strategic alignment of legal support with business objectives.
2. Commercial Technology & Contracting
- Lead draft negotiate and review complex B2B commercial contracts (IT services cloud software licensing hardware supply system integration outsourcing managed services O&M channel/reseller agreements).
- Structure legally sound tender submissions and support the business in private and public procurement processes.
- Manage key disputes claims and pre-litigation activity including coordination with external counsels.
3. Regulatory Compliance (EU & Italian)
- Ensure compliance with major digital-sector regulatory frameworks including EU and Italian cybersecurity regulations.
Oversee the local implementation of group compliance policies (ethics anti-bribery competition law trade compliance data protection ESG).
Serve as legal counterpart to internal audit risk and compliance functions.
4. Corporate Governance & Entity Management
- Advise the Board of Directors and statutory bodies on corporate governance matters powers of attorney shareholder resolutions and board procedures.
- Ensure compliance with local corporate and regulatory filings corporate records and authorities requirements.
5. Litigation Investigations & External Counsel Management
- Manage commercial litigation regulatory proceedings administrative challenges and contentious matters.
- Handle compliance actions pursuant to Huawei Italys Compliance Framework pursuant to Leg. Decree no. 231/2001.
- Select manage and supervise external law firms; ensure cost-effective and outcome-oriented legal spend.
6. Stakeholder & Cross-Border Coordination
- Coordinate with EMEA/global legal teams to ensure alignment with group standards and cross-functional initiatives.
- Interface with regulators public authorities industry bodies and external stakeholders when appropriate.
General Requirements:
- Law degree from an accredited Italian university; qualified Italian lawyer (Avvocato) is strongly preferred.
6 years of post-qualification experience in IT/TMT technology telecom or regulated industries.
Demonstrated expertise in drafting and negotiating complex commercial and technology agreements.
Strong knowledge of EU and Italian regulatory frameworks affecting digital telecom cybersecurity and renewable energies sectors.
Experience in leading legal/compliance functions within multinational companies.
Solid background in corporate governance litigation management M&A support and regulatory interactions.
Demonstrated ability to act as a business partner influence senior leadership and balance legal rigor with commercial pragmatism.
Fluency in Italian and English; additional languages are an asset.
