Why Your Role Matters:
The Lecturer /Senior Lecturer is expected to conduct research in Physical Geography (Oceanography) across coastal to deep ocean systems. Areas of focus may include but are not limited to: the composition and motion of the water column; coastal processes such as tides storm surges and sea level rise; ice dynamics and cryosphere-ocean interactions; and the use of geospatial tools including remote sensing and GIS to analyse environmental change. Research strengths may also encompass biophysical coupling ocean-atmosphere interactions and sediment transport in marine and estuarine environments. Modelling of ocean currents waves and human impacts such as land reclamation and coastal engineering is also encouraged.

Who You Are (skills and experience):

  • A PhD in a Physical Geography Oceanography or related discipline and/or relevant work experience.
  • Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design development and delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
  • Experience using and/or designing with educational technologies and online delivery methods.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence
  • Evidence of ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds.
  • High level communication skills and ability to network effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team.
