Job Summary

Position Summary

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying developing and managing strategic partnerships and revenue-generating opportunities to ensure the growth and sustainability of the Eye Center of Excellence. This role will focus on expanding patient reach strengthening partnerships with insurers and government schemes and developing innovative business models to enhance access to quality eye care.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Growth

  • Lead the design and implementation of the hospitals business development strategy.
  • Identify new market opportunities and innovative service models to expand patient access.
  • Conduct market research competitor analysis and feasibility studies for new initiatives.
  • Develop and monitor key business development performance indicators (KPIs).

Partnerships & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with government institutions insurers (CBHI RSSB private) donors NGOs and corporate partners.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts MoUs and business agreements.
  • Represent the hospital in business-related forums partnerships and fundraising initiatives.
  • Strengthen collaborations for outreach philanthropic programs and corporate social responsibility initiatives.

Revenue Generation & Financial Sustainability

  • Support pricing strategies for services and products to ensure affordability and cost recovery.
  • Develop and implement new revenue.
  • Work with Finance to analyze profitability track revenue growth and manage business risks.
  • Identify and pursue grant and funding opportunities aligned with the hospitals mission.

Operations & Service Expansion

  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to ensure alignment of business initiatives with patient care.
  • Monitor patient flow service uptake and patient satisfaction as part of business growth strategies.
  • Drive innovation in customer care marketing and communication to strengthen the hospitals reputation.
  • Lead business planning for new services satellite centers or product lines.

Team Leadership & Capacity Building

  • Supervise staff working on marketing communications or commercial projects.
  • Build staff capacity in business development customer relations and proposal writing.
  • Promote a culture of innovation accountability and performance excellence.


Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Masters degree in Business Administration Economics Marketing Health Management or related field.
  • Bachelors degree in Business Finance or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 45 years experience in business development sales or partnerships with at least 3 years in healthcare NGO or service industry.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and managing partnerships fundraising or revenue growth.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare financing and insurance systems in Rwanda is an asset.
  • Excellent proposal writing negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in business software MS Office and data analysis.
  • Fluency in English required; Kinyarwanda and French are strong assets.
