Job Summary:
The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for designing implementing and maintaining advanced network infrastructure to support the organizations business operations. This role involves leading network projects ensuring high availability and performance and mentoring junior engineers. The Senior Network Engineer also plays a critical role in developing and enforcing network security policies and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Network Design and Architecture:
Design and implement scalable secure and high-performance network solutions (LAN WAN WLAN SD-WAN etc.).
Develop and maintain network architecture documentation including diagrams and configurations.
Evaluate and recommend new technologies to improve network efficiency and security.
2. Network Operations and Maintenance:
Oversee the daily operations of the network ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
Monitor and troubleshoot complex network issues including outages latency and connectivity problems.
Perform regular maintenance upgrades and patches to network hardware and software.
3. Network Security:
Develop and enforce network security policies including firewalls VPNs and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability scans to identify and mitigate risks.
Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory security standards.
4. Project Management:
Lead network-related projects including planning execution and delivery within defined timelines and budgets.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of network systems with other IT infrastructure.
5. Mentorship and Leadership:
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior network engineers and IT staff.
Conduct training sessions and knowledge-sharing activities to enhance team capabilities.
Act as an escalation point for complex network issues.
6. Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations processes and procedures.
Generate reports on network performance incidents and improvement initiatives.
7. Research and Development:
Stay updated on emerging networking technologies trends and best practices.
Evaluate and implement innovative solutions to enhance network performance and security.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Technical Skills:
Expertise in network hardware and software including routers switches firewalls and wireless systems.
Advanced knowledge of networking protocols (e.g. TCP/IP BGP OSPF MPLS DNS DHCP).
Proficiency in network monitoring and diagnostic tools (e.g. SolarWinds Wireshark Nagios).
Experience with cloud networking (e.g. AWS Azure) and virtualization technologies.
Familiarity with network automation tools and scripting (e.g. Python Ansible).
Soft Skills:
Strong leadership and project management skills.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Effective communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with software-defined networking (SDN) and network function virtualization (NFV).
Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and practices.
Familiarity with ITIL processes and frameworks.
Experience in managing large-scale enterprise networks.
Additional Requirements:
Security Clearance Requirement: Given the secure nature of this role we are seeking candidates who are Australian Citizens with an active security clearance (NV1).This requirement ensures that all team members are cleared to handle sensitive information and contribute to maintaining the highest standards of security in our operations.
Must be willing to work onsite 5 days a week
