Job Summary

Reporting to the Child & Youth Manager and Supervisor the Sports Program Leader will:

  • Provide guidance and support for children participating in recreational sports programming.
  • Lead and supervise activities in accordance with YMCA standards and program expectations.
  • Foster meaningful relationships and create a welcoming environment for the program participants and their families.
  • Ensure the safety of all participants staff and property.
  • Promote YMCA values and encourage teamwork and sportsmanship.

Wed love to hear from people with:

  • Availability on weekday afternoons from 3:45pm to 6:15pm
  • Relevant education or experience working with children and youth.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A passion for helping children develop skills and confidence through sports.
  • Previous experience in leadership or coaching considered an asset.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification considered an asset.

Required Competencies:

  • Commitment to Mission Vision and Values: Demonstrates and promotes a personal understanding of and appreciation for the mission vision and values of the YMCA of Southern Interior BC.
  • Service Orientated: Deliberately identifies and creates opportunities to enhance each and every individuals YMCA experience. Creates action plans to resolve any service gap areas.
  • Relationship Building and Collaboration: Builds positive interactions listens attentively and communicates effectively to create an open communication environment. Share information best practices and resources with colleagues.

  • Provide 3 references of a professional nature (Ex. employer supervisor colleague teacher coach etc.)
  • Provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date. The YMCA will provide applicable instructions and paperwork.
