What Were Looking For:
Roam is seeking a Bus/Facility Maintenance Specialist to support Roam Transits fleet of 40 buses and assist with general facility upkeep. Reporting to the Maintenance Program Manager this role bridges the gap between fleet care and building maintenance ensuring buses associated equipment and infrastructure remain operational safe and well maintained.
Responsibilities include day-to-day maintenance tasks seasonal upkeep and facility repairs all performed in compliance with Roam Transits health and safety policiesto maintain a safe organized and efficient work environment.

Fleet Support duties:
Assist the Maintenance Program Manager with preventative and corrective bus maintenance tasks such as wheel retorques changing wiper blades cleaning AC filters from buses topping up fluids when necessary and plugging in Electric Buses.
Perform routine upkeep of bus bike racks wash bay equipment and vehicle accessories.
Inspect clean and help organize bus tires windshields and parts storage.
Support the upkeep of 6 non-revenue Roam passenger vehicles.
Support upkeep and adjustments of the bus wash system (e.g. brushes fluid levels filters).
Maintain and track a small parts inventory ensuring frequently needed parts and accessories (e.g. wipers bulbs trim pieces) are on hand when required.
May involve moving buses within the yard conducting road tests and operating larger fleet vehicles as required.
Facility and Equipment Maintenance:
Support repair maintenance and periodic inspections of garage infrastructure including powered gates lighting and hose reels.
Assist with minor building and infrastructure upkeep/maintenance at our staff accommodations and office spaces.
Identify and correct deficiencies and advise the Maintenance Program Manager of potential problems or risks.
Assist with basic plumbing carpentry and electrical tasks as required.
Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the maintenance bays and exterior storage areas ensuring they are free of debris and obstructions.
Perform seasonal upkeep tasks (e.g. minor snow shoveling or sanding around doors drainage grates).
Health & Safety Responsibilities:
Adhere to Roam Transits safety policies wear required PPE at all times and observe all applicable provincial and federal regulations environmental standards and workplace safety protocols.
Follow safe work procedures (SWP) for tools lifts wash bay equipment etc.
Participate in hazard assessments and safety meetings.
Report unsafe conditions or incidents immediately to the Maintenance Program Manager.
The Bus/Facility Maintenance Specialist may perform other duties as required and assigned by the Maintenance Program Manager to support fleet facilities and operational needs.
Qualifications:
Education Requirement:
High school diploma or GED is required.
Technical or vocational training in fleet or vehicle maintenance facility maintenance automotive technology or a related trade is considered an asset (e.g. Journeyman Heavy Duty Equipment Technician or apprentice experience as an HET).
A combination of education and work experience will also be considered.
Experience:
Minimum one year of experience in a transit or fleet maintenance environment.
Facility maintenance experience is considered an asset.
Mechanic experience is considered an asset though a license is not necessary.
General mechanical aptitude and experience with hand/power tools.
Basic understanding of building systems (electrical HVAC and plumbing).
Knowledge skills and abilities:
Knowledge and understanding of bus or vehicle systems and preventative maintenance tasks such as wheel adjustments fluid checks component inspections and the safe use of hand tools and equipment.
Familiarity with facility maintenance procedures including plumbing carpentry electrical work and general building upkeep.
Knowledge of air compressors pressure washers and pneumatic tools.
Knowledge of workplace health safety and environmental standards.
Ability to identify hazards follow safe work procedures and report unsafe conditions.
WHMIS and basic First Aid Certification is an asset.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Effective communication problem-solving and teamwork skills.
Adaptable to varying work conditions including indoor/outdoor and seasonal tasks.
Willingness and ability to move large vehicles short distances within company property; interest in completing employer-provided training to safely maneuver buses and other large fleet vehicles.
Other Requirements/Conditions:
Valid Class 5 Drivers license is required. Class 1/2 is considered an asset.
Requires a clean driving abstract (no more than 3 demerit points within the past 3 years).
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada (proof will be required).
Must pass police security clearance (proof will be required).
Ability to safely lift and maneuver heavy items up to 50lbs.
Ability to work in a physically demanding job requiring some kneeling climbing ladders etc.
Some light lifting outside work and stationary office work.
A 40-hour work week 5 days a week.
