GENERAL DESCRIPTION:


This position provides HVAC support to the 153d Airlift Wings 27 main habitable facilities totaling 400000 square feet of conditioned space. The HVAC Specialists perform basic fault analysis maintenance and repairs on Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning systems. They install and perform fault analysis maintenance and repairs on various types of Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning systems. They manage HVAC systems through the direct digital control system. They perform all duties following strict safety guidelines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed in the job level.


  • Conducts routine maintenance on HVAC/R equipment. Maintains and ensures the Recurring Work Program (RWP) is completed by prescribed deadlines.
  • Adjusts troubleshoots and maintains electrical direct digital controls electronic/pneumatic/mechanical temperature control devices and hydronic systems (boilers and chillers) on HVAC/R systems.
  • Provides oversight on HVAC/R projects performed by outside contractors for code compliance design and installation. Works with professional engineers on project design and construction.
  • Performs seasonal startup and shutdown of heating and air-conditioning plants and other related equipment.
  • Obtains / Provides Builder data and assures builder data is updated in the system. Maintains computer proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word Excel Outlook) and other proprietary HVAC systems (ex. Tridium).
  • Maintains safety training and certifications (OSHA 10 LOTO Ladder Safety Fall Protection).

PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:


Preference will be given to candidates with skills and experience with but not limited to MS Office Suite Adobe OSHA 10 Certification Universal Certification in Freon Recovery Small Equipment Operation Direct Digital Control experience ability to work well in a team environment and LO/TO experience.

**A valid Wyoming drivers license is required for this position.


KNOWLEDGE:


  • Knowledgeable with the ability to maintain troubleshoot service and repair different types of Boilers such as Aerco Thermal Solutions Burnham and Dunkirk.
  • Knowledgeable with the ability to maintain troubleshoot service and repair different types of Air Conditioners and Chillers such as Daikin McQuay and Carrier.
  • Knowledgeable with the ability to maintain troubleshoot service and repair different types of hydronic heating systems and equipment.
  • Knowledge of Refrigeration evacuation and recovery.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in reading and understanding prints specifications and submittals. This position is required to provide competent input for all projects (MILCON) and large renovations (SRM).
  • This position must be able to ascertain pertinent information as presented in Direct Digital Controls (DDC) and be able to troubleshoot mechanical equipment from the data provided. The ability to work on and troubleshoot DDC controls is a plus but not required for this position.
  • Knowledge of proper tool use (How and When to use).
  • This position is required to provide good customer service.
  • Knowledge of State system rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of State Personnel Rules.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
Associates Degree
Experience:
0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in HVAC)
OR
Education & ExperienceSubstitution:
2-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in HVAC)
Certificates Licenses Registrations:
None

Necessary Special Requirements


PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:


  • Travel is required; the employee must be able to lift 50 lbs. climb ladders and work in tight spaces.
  • This position also works in adverse conditions.
  • This individual will also be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • This is an essential personnel position; the individual will be required to report to the base on short notice at times for emergency maintenance and snow removal.
