Job: Room Service Operator Classification: Hourly/Non-Exempt Job Category: Service Workers
Position Summary The Room Service Operator assists the department in the clerical aspects of preparation for patient meal service through accurate menu processing and assisting patients with menu selection. The Operator assists in additional clerical duties as needed.
Essential Functions -Provides excellent customer service (patients nursing staff physicians visitors co-workers etc). -Demonstrates appropriate phone etiquette. -Demonstrates knowledge of HACCP Standards. -Demonstrates appropriate hand hygiene practices. -Demonstrates proper procedures for meal tray assembly and delivery. -Demonstrates knowledge of department policy & procedures. -Demonstrates knowledge of special diets and is able to offer an adequate substitute if needed. -Respectful use of all hospital / equipment. -Demonstrates ability to use office software programs (Word Excel Access Health Touch etc). -Demonstrates ability to maintain patient confidentiality. -Demonstrates ability to count and verify cash deposits. -Wears an approved uniform. -Adheres to and follows all patient experience initiatives. -Reports to and depart from work on time and as scheduled. -Performs other duties as assigned. -Must be able to deal with stress while maintaining composure. -Works with patient line to ensure meals are all delivered accurately and on time. -Follows and adheres to TRMC vaccine policy(s) mandated by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
Work Experience -One year of experience in a hospital food service preferred.
Education -High School diploma or equivalent preferred. -Ability to read and write English preferred. -Abilities in counseling and effective oral and written communication skills preferred. -Ability to use office equipment (hand-free headset copy machine etc) preferred. -Computer experience preferred.
