As a Senior Software Engineer - AI on the Practical Law team youll take ownership of critical AI initiatives from conception to deployment working at the intersection of cutting-edge technology and practical legal solutions. Youll have the opportunity to optimize AI performance using advanced techniques shape technical strategy and act as a thought leader within our organization. About the Role
In this opportunity as a Senior Software Engineer - AI you will:

  • Lead the technical execution of AI projects including making architecture decisions aligning with product roadmaps and overseeing delivery to ensure successful outcomes

  • Optimize AI performance through advanced techniquesincluding domain-specific adaptation of third-party models and algorithms to maximize accuracy and efficiency

  • Deliver scalable AI/ML solutionsusing emerging technologies and best practices in MLOps and LLMOps to ensure robust production-ready systems

  • Design and implement continuous monitoringof application and user behavior to generate product insights and support data-driven prioritization

  • Stay abreast of AI developmentsand actively encourage learning and adoption of relevant technologies across the team

  • Act as a thought leaderby contributing to internal forums representing the team in areas of AI expertise and influencing technical direction across the organization


About You
Youre a fit for the role of Senior Software Engineer - AI if you have the following required qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in software engineering; at least 2 years focused on AI/ML

  • Proficiency in Python and experience with AI/ML frameworks ( TensorFlow)

  • Strong understanding of machine learning principles evaluation and system design

  • Knowledge ofMLOpsand the end-to-end lifecycle of AI-powered software applications

  • Experience integrating AI models into production systems using APIs and data pipelines

  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS Azure GCP) and containerization tools (e.g. Docker Kubernetes)

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong communicationskills and experience working in cross-functional teams

  • Experience with AI-driven systems agent-based architectures or AI APIs from providers like OpenAI andAnthropic.

  • Knowledge of vector databases embeddings or search-basedAI.

  • Domain knowledge in legal tax oraccounting

  • A portfolio of projectsdemonstrating creativity and skill building solutions withLLMs

  • 24 years of JavaScript/TypeScript experiencebuilding production applications in React and Angular including state management and modern front-end development practices

  • 24 years of AWS experiencedesigning deploying and operating scalable cloud services using core AWS offerings such as Lambda S3 EC2 and related tools

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The base compensation range varies across locations. For any eligible US locations unless otherwise noted the base compensation range for this role is $140000 - $260000. This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance. Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individuals knowledge skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs.
