Position Summary:
The Engineering Manager leads oversees managers and develops a team of transmission engineers and engineering technicians responsible for planning designing and supporting the construction maintenance and reliability of Grant PUDs high voltage transmission system. This position ensures design activities are executed with a focus on reliability safety efficiency and adherence to general engineering and utility best practices. This position ensures engineering activities prioritize system reliability safety and efficiency and consistency with utility and engineering best practices. As the designated resource manager for transmission engineering and technical support across Power Delivery this role drives high-quality project execution supports cross-departmental coordination and establishes standards and procedures that guide the design and implementation of transmission infrastructure.

- Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team performing transmission planning line design structural design and system studies.
- Assign work strategically to balance workloads support individual growth and align with operational and system priorities. Ensure staff are trained qualified and supported through coaching mentoring and performance feedback.
- Participate in workforce planning succession planning and organizational development initiatives.
- Establish and maintain engineering procedures standards and design criteria for transmission lines structures and related facilities.
- Review and approve complex or escalated design decisions with potential impacts on system reliability safety or regulatory compliance.
- Support periodic review and updates of construction drawings material specifications and design standards. Provide technical guidance to staff and act as a subject matter expert across the organization.
- Lead and supervise engineers responsible for development implementation and coordination of transmission engineering activities supporting construction and maintenance of transmission infrastructure.
- Serve as program manager or stakeholder for capital and maintenance projects involving transmission line upgrades rebuilds protection coordination impacts and structural improvements.
- Monitor budgets schedules contracts and resource allocation to optimize department performance and adherence to strategic goals. Oversee contractors and consultants performing transmission engineering work and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (e.g. NESC IEEE ASCE).
- Collaborate with Substation Engineering Protection & Automation the Project Management Office and System Operations to ensure efficient project delivery and alignment with system needs.
- Provide engineering support during emergency response outage events or system restoration activities coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate closely with Construction & Maintenance System Planning Real Estate & Permitting Operations and Protection & Automation to resolve design issues schedule work and support system reliability objectives. Interface with external agencies joint-use entities and regulatory bodies as needed. Provide technical guidance and maintain positive working relationships across the organization.
- Ensure accurate documentation and mapping of system assets including safety planning as part of design workflows. Maintain awareness of and adherence to laws regulations and Grant PUD policies applicable to transmission engineering. Promote and actively participate in Grant PUDs safety program including incident reporting and continuous improvement of safety practices.
- Identify and implement process improvements that enhance team performance engineering quality or system resilience. Stay current on industry developments through participation in working groups and professional associations; share learnings with the team and integrate applicable practices.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in an engineering field or additional two years of experience in lieu of degree
- Eight (8) years of engineering experience including:
- At least 1 year of experience leading people projects or cross functional work.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A Washington State Professional Engineering license
- Utility experience
