St Vincents to Deliver Australias New Free Digital Mental Health Service

St Vincents is proud to partner with the Australian Government to deliver fast free and accessible digital mental health support through the new Medicare Mental Health Check In Service launching from 1 January 2026.

This national digital mental health program integrates into the wider Medicare Mental Health ecosystem to support people experiencing early signs of mental health challenges. stress distress or anxiety. Through rapid access to evidence-based low-intensity CBT delivered by qualified practitioners the service empowers people to improve their mental wellbeing early reducing the need for longer-term care and helping people get well sooner.

Your New Role

As the Integration & Engagement Lead National Digital Mental Health you will lead how the Medicare Mental Health Check In service is understood embedded and sustained across Australias health and community systems.

You will oversee national stakeholder engagement partnerships and integration activity to ensure the service is trusted well connected and effectively used. Working closely with clinical leadership operational teams St Vincents Communications and government partners you will ensure the service is integrated consistent and aligned to values standards and system needs.

This opportunity is open for Melbourne Sydney or Brisbane locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and maintain national stakeholder mapping across health and community and government sectors

  • Develop and oversee an integrated engagement and integration strategy aligned to government requirements and service priorities and supporting integration of care

  • Lead education and engagement activities using a range of channels and modalities to meet sector and community needs

  • Enable service integration through the development of shared understanding and integrated care pathways

  • Support awareness education and advocacy activities including conferences and sector forums

  • Enable co-design and lived experience engagement with communities and service partners

  • Identify and amplify service stories spokespeople and innovations

  • Build and sustain strong relationships across mental health primary care and community organisations

  • Ensure compliance with privacy legislative accreditation and organisational requirements

About You

Essential

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective relationships and partnerships

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Australian primary health and mental health care systems

  • Specific experience building integration across health care services and/or community organisations

  • Strong relationship-building and influencing skills particularly in leading without direct authority.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex issues into clear compelling messaging

  • Formal qualifications in a health-related field and/or significant demonstrated experience within mental health sector

Desirable

  • Experience working within government-funded or national health services

  • Experience supporting large-scale system or service reform initiatives

  • Relevant Tertiary qualifications in communications media or a related field.

Role Impact

The Integration & Engagement Lead oversees activities to support the effective engagement with and integration of the national Digital Mental Health Service Medicare Mental-Health Check-In into the broader Australian health care environment.

The role provides leadership and management of sector and community engagement partnerships and collaborations and service education that support understanding and integration of the service into a range of environments and contexts to increase the reach and effectiveness of the service. This includes during the establishment of the service and once the service is operational. The role works closely with the Clinical Director Operations Manager and clinical operations team in day-to-day activities and also with St Vincents Communications Public Affairs and Advocacy colleagues and Department of Health Disability and Aging (the Department) where required to ensure integrated consistent and value-aligned communications.

Managing Today

  • Undertake and maintain stakeholder mapping to ensure relevant health care sector and community stakeholder needs are identified

  • Oversee an integrated engagement and integration strategy for the Medicare Mental Health Check In service aligned to the Department requirements and service priorities. Partner with the leadership team to support strategic priorities through effective internal and external communications.

  • Lead engagement and education activities with stakeholders including delivery of activities via a range of modalities and channels in a way that meets their needs

  • Enable sector integration with the service through the development of shared understanding and integrated care pathways.

  • Participate in service awareness raising activities marketing advocacy and communications activities including in conferences forums and contributing to a range of external facing material.

  • Support engagement with communities groups and organisation that support co-design practices and are aligned to service development continuous improvement and innovation.

  • Support the amplifying of stories spokespeople and innovations from the digital mental health program.

  • Work with local teams and SVHA media colleagues to identify and manage reputational issues or opportunities.

  • Establish and build a strong network of relationships across the mental health sector primary care and community organisations supporting integration of care

  • Build a strong network of communicators across the digital mental health service to promote collaboration and consistency. Facilitate joint campaigns shared planning and alignment of national campaigns. Encourage innovation and continuous improvement by championing best practice across the program.

  • Participate in regular training and proactively maintain a professional development plan including ongoing skill development.

  • Ensure compliance across all relevant standards of accreditation and legislative requirements within areas of responsibility

  • Comply with the Privacy Act by maintaining confidentiality and ensuring that staff and health service information records are not disclosed or misused in any way

  • Comply with policies procedures safe work practices and reasonable instruction designed to keep people healthy and safe.
