The Chino Police Department is seeking highly motivated individuals to apply for the position of Public Safety Dispatcher I. The Police Communications Center is comprised of 17 Public Safety Dispatchers and three (3) Public Safety Dispatch Supervisors. The center is a new state of the art facility which offers standing and sitting workstations with personal comfort systems at each console. There is also an onsite gym available for a small fee payable to the Police Officers Association.
Typing Requirement: This position requires a minimum typing speed of 40 net words per minute with fewer than 10 errors. A valid typing certificate must be submitted with your application or provided directly to Human Resources before you can be invited to interview. Applicants who do not provide a valid certificate will not be considered. The certificate must be from an accredited school or agency dated within the past 12 months and this requirement also applies to internal applicants not currently working in a job classification that requires typing at 40 net words per minute. Note: Typing test results from an online application will not be accepted.

This is the entry-level class in the public safety dispatching class series. Public Safety Dispatcher Is learn to perform dispatching related duties and responsibilities. Advancement to Public Safety Dispatcher II requires an incumbent to successfully complete the Dispatching In-Service Training Program. Advancement to the next level is not automatic and requires an evaluation by management of the incumbents skill and performance levels. This is a civilian position.
