Job Summary

Job Responsibilities

Serves as Commander for the Agency SITCON Teams.
Ensures those employees selected are qualified meet and/or exceed all requirements necessary to serve as an effective member of the SCDC Hostage Negotiations Team.
Validates all team members meet annual training requirements and attends respective emergency team basic certification classes.
Assist the Director of Security with budgetary needs employee leave and attendance personnel matters correspondence etc.
Supervise the Central Bus Terminal.
Conducts security audits work escapes instruct emergency preparedness training write emergency preparedness policies and audit all emergency preparedness manuals annually.
Serves on various committees as requested by Director of Security makes institutional security visits per the Director of Security.
Serves as EHSO for the Division of Security.
Performs any related duties as requested or instructed.

Must successfully complete eight (8) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:

A high school diploma and relevant supervisory experience. A bachelors degree in a related field may substitute for the required supervisory experience.

SCDC Minimum Requirements:

(Or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resources).

A high school diploma and eight (8) years experience in corrections security military or police work to include four (4) years of supervisory experience.
A degree in criminal justice or a related degree may substitute for supervisory experience year for year (associate 2 years bachelors and above 4 years).
Must be certified by the SCDC training academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.
Must complete special operations basic training course.
