Thorne Harbour Health (THH) is expanding its Family & Domestic Violence (FDV) therapeutic response in South Australia and we are seeking one skilled and adaptable professional to take on a combined Counsellor and Case Manager role.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is confident in both therapeutic counselling and holistic case management and who is passionate about supporting LGBTQIA communities and people living with HIV (PLHIV) experiencing family and domestic violence.

About the role

This dual role sits within our Specialist LGBTIQA FDV Service and combines responsibilities across counselling and case management. You will work collaboratively within a small supportive team and engage with a range of external services.

Counselling Responsibilities

  • Provide trauma-informed evidence-based counselling to LGBTQIA people and PLHIV experiencing FDV.
  • Conduct psychosocial assessments and collaboratively develop therapeutic plans.
  • Support clients to process trauma achieve goals and strengthen emotional and physical safety.
  • Participate in risk assessments (with guidance).
  • Contribute to group program development and occasional co-facilitation.

Case Management Responsibilities

  • Provide holistic person-centred case management and service navigation.
  • Conduct needs and safety assessments and develop comprehensive case plans.
  • Coordinate referrals advocacy outreach support and interagency collaboration.
  • Work with housing legal SAPOL AOD mental health and other services.
  • Support clients to implement their individual safety plans.

You will work within an intersectional feminist trauma-informed harm-reduction framework in all aspects of your practice.

About you

Were looking for someone with capability across both counselling and case management. You might come from an FDV background community services counselling mental health or another relevant area. You will also bring:

  • Qualification/s in counselling community services social work psychology or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in either counselling or case management with willingness to develop skills across both.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practice intersectionality and FDV dynamics.
  • Experience working with LGBTQIA communities and/or PLHIV (or strong commitment to learning).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate client records and meet KPIs.
  • Willingness to undertake FDV-specific training.
