DescriptionWe are seeking a reliable and meticulous Low Voltage Cabling Technician to handle all physical layer network installations clean-up and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will be an expert in copper cabling standards take pride in high-quality workmanship and possess the ability to work independently on client sites.
Responsibilities:
- New Installations
- Execute end-to-end installation of new structured copper cabling (Cat5E / Cat6 / Alarm and access system cable) following EIA/TIA standards and local code requirements.
- Infrastructure Management
- Perform detailed cleanup standardization and labeling of existing patch panels server racks and network closets (IDF/MDF) to improve organization and manageability.
- Troubleshooting & QA
- Utilize advanced testing equipment (cable certifiers VFL OTDR toners) to quickly diagnose and repair physical layer network issues. Certify new runs to client and company quality standards.
- Hardware Placement
- Plan mount and install network hardware (switches WAPs VoIP equipment) in accordance with cabling paths and power requirements.
- Documentation
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation including cable schematics labeling guides and before-and-after photos for all projects using our internal knowledge base.
Highly Desired Skills (Major Plus)
- Fiber Optic Experience: Hands-on experience with fiber optic cable installation termination (fusion splicing or mechanical connectors) and testing (OTDR/Power Meter).
- Current technical certifications (e.g. BICSI Installer 1 or 2 specific manufacturer training).
- Experience installing and troubleshooting surveillance (CCTV) and access control cabling
Requirements- 2 Years of professional experience in low voltage structured cabling installation termination and testing.
- Deep practical knowledge of (Cat5E / Cat6 / Alarm and access system cable) installation and best practices.
- Proficiency with industry-standard tools including cable certification testers punch-down tools and power tools.
- Ability to read interpret and work from construction drawings blueprints and project scopes.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs climb ladders and work in tight spaces (closets above ceilings).
- Valid U.S. Drivers License and reliable transportation are mandatory.
