GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs skilled clerical work involving the preparation and/or maintenance of fiscal or related records
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or equivalent. Bondable status. A minimum of seven (7) years payroll experience. College education in an applicable field of study may be substituted for experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Prepares accounting for federal and state taxes each pay period and submits to the Comptroller for approval and then processes payment to the appropriate federal and state agencies in a timely manner.
- Edits KRONOS time and attendance software system records and prepares data entry for accurate payment of task and rental jobs performed by staff.
- Mass updates KRONOS records to reflect scheduled and non-scheduled days off and early closings or late openings.
- Prepares and reviews various reports in KRONOS to ensure employee time records are accurate prior to interfacing with the ERP payroll system.
- Creates hourly wage new hires in KRONOS and assigns task code and tracks hours to ensure employee paid only for hours within their approved allotment.
- Completes the termination process for all contractual employees in KRONOS.
- Creates and distributes to all payroll editors the annual KRONOS calendar of duties.
- Performs review of all data (hours and rates) for all hourly wages and prepares for entry into the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software system.
- Enters into the ERP payroll system various payroll deductions including withholdings for taxes direct deposits etc.
- Processes the miscellaneous payroll additions/deductions for each semi-monthly payroll and uploads into the ERP payroll system.
- Serves as back-up for the Accounting Associate II-Payroll position to ensure that all duties and responsibilities are completed in a timely manner.
- Completes documents of requests from external sources for employment verification.
- Performs related work as required or as directed by the Payroll Specialist.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Thorough knowledge of bookkeeping terminology methods procedures and equipment; thorough knowledge of standard office procedures practices and equipment; considerable knowledge of payroll procedures and related data processing equipment; ability to understand and follow oral and written directions; ability to establish and follow detailed work procedures; ability to post accounts and to perform mathematical computations with speed and accuracy; skill in using a variety of office machines and computer equipment including spreadsheets and some typing ability; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
