Job Summary
FINANCE OFFICE
Finance Manager (Accounting and Budgeting Section) ()
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Senior Manager in leading and supervising a small team of accounting staff;
- Collaborate with finance teams to prepare accurate and timely financial reports and analysis ensuring consistency between management reports and financial accounts;
- Provide financial support to research projects including project vetting fund monitoring and submission of accurate and timely reports;
- Participate in annual budget preparation and budgetary control; oversee the delivery of budgets forecasts and strategic plans in accordance with the established policies and procedures;
- Prepare the internal and external reporting including reports to the University Grants Committee and Research Committee etc;
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures and liaise with finance teams and auditors during annual audit;
- Build strong relationships and provide financial advice to faculties and administrative departments;
- Support special project team on finance transformation initiatives collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful implementation; and
- Perform any other ad hoc tasks assigned by supervisors.
Requirements:
- A bachelors degree in accounting or finance with membership in a recognised professional accounting body;
- Minimum of8 years of relevant experience preferably in sizeable organisations including at least 3 years in a supervisory role;
- Strong numerical and data analysis skills with the ability to identify trends and support decision making; proficiency in database and spreadsheet management is essential;
- Solid computer literacy including experience with Oracle Hyperion and Power BI;
- Proactive mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; demonstrated leadership and team-building skills coupled with a can-do attitude;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Chinese (Cantonese and preferably Putonghua) along with strong interpersonal and collaboration abilities;
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively; and
- Prior working experience in audit firms will be an advantage.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written test and an interview.
The initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract of two years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
