Overview

Join our Health Information Management team as a Document Processing Specialist where youll play a key role in preparing scanning and verifying medical record documents for accurate integration into the electronic patient this role youll ensure all records are processed in alignment with standardized HIM guidelines and maintain high-quality standards throughout each step. Youll also proactively communicate any issues that could affect the quality or timely inclusion of records helping support seamless patient care and reliable documentation.

Hours: Monday-Thursday 8am-3:30pm Friday 8:30am-12:30pm

Location: Onsite - Fort Dodge IA

Responsibilities

Information Management:

  • Accurately prepare paper medical records for scanning following standardized HIM system wide prep guidelines.
  • Scans paper medical records into the electronic health record using a scanning device.
  • Accurately Indexes and verifies medical record images into the electronic health record following standardized HIM system wide document type guidelines.
  • Responsible for the verification batches of scanned medical record images are released into the appropriate quality review queue or committed into the patients electronic medical record.
  • Monitors and processes images from network file sweep folders.
  • Meet quality and productivity standards.
  • Upon request assist in the training of new hires by utilizing operational knowledge of prepping scanning and indexing processes.
  • Responsible for communication and reporting any system or workflow issues to appropriate leadership or team members.
  • Upon request performs quality control and processing of reports.
  • Retrieves paper documents from defined patient care locations.

Customer Service:

  • Promptly answers office phone calls or assists with phone coverage.
  • Frequently monitors incoming department faxes as necessary.
  • Responds to and fulfills continuation of care requests as necessary.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Medical terminology Completion of a Health Information Management program
  • Previous work history in health information services/medical records department or office experience.
  • One to three years of experience with an electronic health record or hospital/medical setting.
