HOUSTON SECONDARY SCHOOL

.40 FTE TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT (Two days)

SENIOR ENGLISH (Two Blocks) / TEACHER - LIBRARIAN (One Block) / BVEC (1 B lock)

EFFECTIVE: As soon as possible to June 30 2026*

(and / or other subjects as may be determined by the timetable)

The successful candidate will:

Have university qualifications and/or successful teaching experience in teaching English at a secondary level
Have university qualification and/or successful teaching experience as a Teacher-Librarian and above listed subject areas
Have experience and qualifications in the design creation and delivery of Online Learning Courses such as Career Life Education / Career Life Connections and Capstone
Have experience in delivering courses through a course management system such as Moodle and Office 365
Be able to teach other graduation program courses as required
Have experience in developing personalized learning plans with parents
Be familiar with the BC Grad Program in order to effectively provide academic counsel to students
Have a strong understanding of the principles of Distributed Learning Education
Have strong interpersonal skills with the ability and desire to work collaboratively with the school staff parents and broader community
Be sensitive to the unique needs of home school learners and families
Be able to monitor and report on student progress using current assessment strategies including formative and criterion referenced assessment
Be able to communicate with other schools regarding accessing learning resources learning opportunities (DL courses field trips extra-curricular activities etc.)
Be committed to working as a cooperative collaborative member of a school wide instructional

team attend meetings as required

Be committed to consultation parent conferences and positive home/school/community liaison

SALARY: The starting annual salary forfull-time teaching position ranges from $62718 to $110161 with placement onthe range based on length of services and qualification in accordance with thecollective agreement. Additionally $3035 annually as a Remote & RuralAllowance. ( July 1 2025 Salaryadjustments will be implemented once the BCTF/BVTU collective agreement hasbeen finalized and ratified by all parties.)
