Position Overview
The Tooling Maker is responsible for building repairing maintaining and improving tooling fixtures and production equipment used throughout our liquid coatings and manufacturing processes. This role works closely with engineering maintenance and production teams to ensure all tooling operates safely efficiently and accurately. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude hands-on machining experience and the ability to support a fast-paced production environment.
- Build repair and maintain production tooling fixtures jigs molds and related components.
- Read and interpret technical drawings blueprints and CAD models.
- Operate manual and CNC machining equipment (mills lathes grinders etc.).
- Perform adjustments or modifications to tooling to improve performance and reduce downtime.
- Inspect completed tools to confirm they meet dimensional and quality specifications.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to support new product launches and process improvements.
- Troubleshoot tooling issues and implement corrective actions promptly.
- Maintain accurate documentation for tooling maintenance revisions and usage.
- Follow company and industry safety standards while keeping work areas clean and organized.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives including equipment upgrades and cost-reduction efforts.
Qualifications
- Experience as a Tooling Maker Machinist Tool & Die Technician or similar role.
- Proficiency with manual machining; CNC experience is a plus.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design tolerances and materials.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings schematics and blueprints.
- Familiarity with precision measuring tools (micrometers calipers gauges).
- Strong troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude.
- High attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a manufacturing environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent; trade or technical training preferred.
