Camp Fireweed Unit Leader

Gear up for outdoor adventures at our day camp located in Anchorage on the campus of Alaska Pacific University. We take full advantage of this natural setting making every day another opportunity for campers to explore the forest practice target sports or launch a canoe from the addition to a huge catalog of activities and games we structure each session to create a classic outdoor summer camp experience!
Position Summary:
The Camp Fireweed Unit Leader adhere to Camp Fire Alaskas (CFAK) promise to provide youth with the opportunity to find their spark lift their voice and discover who they are through positive and responsible youth interactions within the day camp environment. The Unit Leader is responsible for the overall management and supervision of assigned units overseeing all aspects of youth safety and staff supervision.
In this position youll gain valuable experience providing a high-quality camp experience for participants and parents within the CFA mission and goals. Youll have an opportunity to lead and participate in all camp activities along with planning and implementing age appropriate activities consistent with campers needs/abilities that promote encourage and demonstrate caring striving and thriving. Pay: Starting at $19.89/hour with higher rates available based on experience.
- Bonus for completing the full season
Work Dates:March 9 - August 14 2026 (beginning with planning and start-up training)
Work Schedule:8 hours/day Monday - Friday between camp hours of 7am 6pm
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Demonstrated leadership ability; minimum of one (1) year/season prior experience in staff supervision and youth management.
- Eighteen (18) years of age required to maintain compliance with regulatory and accrediting entities.
- Prior experience with youth preferably in a day/resident camp setting.
- Current Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED/ First Aid Certification from a nationally recognized provider.
