Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Dam Design Specialist to join our engineering team and contribute to the planning design and implementation of dam infrastructure projects. This assignment will run for a duration of 17 months beginning in 2026 offering a unique opportunity to deliver impactful results within a defined timeline. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the safety sustainability and efficiency of dam structures across diverse environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed designs for various dam types (e.g. earthfill concrete arch)
- Perform structural and stability analyses using advanced engineering software
- Prepare technical documentation including design drawings specifications and reports
- Coordinate with clients contractors and regulatory bodies throughout project phases
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes standards and environmental regulations
- Conduct inspections of existing dams and recommend maintenance or upgrades
- Identify and mitigate potential risks including flood and seismic hazards
- Contribute to the development of emergency action plans and dam safety programs
- Integrate sustainable and innovative practices into dam design and operations
- Support construction activities through technical oversight and review of materials and methods
Qualifications :
- Graduate with a degree in Dam Hydraulic Geotechnical or Civil Engineering
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience relevant to dam engineering
- At least 8 years of international work experience in dam/hydraulic/geotechnical design including dam physical structures headworks intake structures outlet works spillways and irrigation design ensuring stability and safety under diverse hydrological conditions
- Experience delivering Detailed Engineering Designs (DED) and Construction/Supervision (C/S) services in international hydraulic/dam engineering projects (minimum 3 projects)
- Experience collaborating with the World Bank and other development partners on at least 2 projects
- Familiarity with the language and working conditions of the host country
- Strong knowledge of hydrology hydraulics and geotechnical engineering principles
- Proficiency in design and analysis software (e.g. AutoCAD Civil 3D STAAD or similar)
- Excellent communication problemsolving and project management skills
