Technical Sales Specialist Water Solutions & Services (WSS)
About the role
Xylem is at the forefront of solving the worlds most critical water challenges. Within our Water Solutions & Services (WSS) segment we provide intelligent rental treatment and dewatering solutions to major infrastructure projects utilities and Tier 1 contractors across the UK.
We are now seeking a Technical Sales Specialist to lead rental and solutions sales across the South of the UK working closely with utilities Tier 1 contractors and strategic partners. This is a highly visible customer-facing role for someone who combines technical credibility with commercial drive.
What youll be responsible for
You will be part of the WSS UK & Ireland sales team owning the development and delivery of rental-led water solutions within your region.
Key responsibilities include:
Customer & market development
Develop and grow relationships with Tier 1 contractors utilities and strategic customers across the Southern region
Proactively identify qualify and convert new business opportunities while strengthening existing accounts
Build trusted relationships with key decision-makers and influencers understanding both technical and commercial drivers
Act as a technical advisor diagnosing customer challenges and presenting tailored rental and solution-based offerings
Sales execution
Achieve and exceed agreed sales targets through structured opportunity management and account planning
Prepare manage and follow up quotations tenders and commercial proposals
Identify and deliver up-selling and cross-selling opportunities across Xylems rental service and solution portfolio
Maintain accurate and disciplined CRM records covering pipeline contracts tenders and customer interactions
Technical & solution expertise
Develop and maintain strong technical knowledge of Xylems water treatment and rental solutions
Confidently articulate value propositions that clearly differentiate Xylem from competitors
Stay informed on industry developments emerging technologies and evolving customer needs
Strategic contribution
Identify market trends competitive activity and growth opportunities within the Southern region
Support the development of regional sales strategies through structured market intelligence and account segmentation
Work collaboratively with internal teams service partners and third-party contractors to deliver optimal outcomes for customers and Xylem
What were looking for
This role will suit someone who is commercially sharp technically curious and comfortable operating in complex stakeholder environments.
Essential experience & skills:
35 years experience in a technical sales role ideally within water industrial infrastructure or related technical sectors
Proven ability to sell solutions rather than products with a consultative and customer-centric approach
Strong understanding of contractor and utility environments; Tier 1 contractor exposure is a significant advantage
Confident communicator with the ability to influence at multiple organisational levels
High level of self-motivation resilience and ownership of regional performance
Desirable:
Background or strong affinity with water technology rental solutions or industrial equipment
Experience working with indirect channels such as service partners or distributors
