Position Overview
- SCOPE OF ROLE:
The Lead Housing Specialist is tasked with providing effective supervision to Housing Specialists to ensure that individuals and families receive comprehensive homelessness prevention services.
- ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver both individual and group supervision to Homebase Housing Specialists.
- Review and submit subsidy applications as required.
- Facilitate case conferences to guarantee that Housing Specialists create individualized housing and service plans outlining strategies for achieving housing stability.
- Assess the eligibility of program participants and direct ineligible applicants to alternative community resources.
- Monitor participants adherence to requirements for locating acquiring and retaining appropriate housing.
- Foster connections with other service providers to assist participants in obtaining and sustaining housing.
- Conduct regular internal file reviews and implement quality assurance measures to ensure compliance with the standards set by the Department of Social Services.
- Develop coordinate and oversee corrective action plans necessary to rectify deficiencies identified through continuous quality assurance activities.
- Ensure that Housing Specialists meticulously document services including household budgeting and the creation of individualized plans aimed at reducing household expenditures increasing income and stabilizing housing.
- Review client records to verify that Housing Specialists maintain accurate documentation of services provided.
- Remain consistent in checking client databases to ensure timely data entry by all relevant personnel.
- Collaborate with realtors and property managers to facilitate the acquisition and retention of housing.
- Participate in community meetings to promote the availability of programs and inform individuals who are homeless or at risk of homelessness about Homebase services.
- Complete performance evaluations for direct reports.
- Attend pertinent meetings organized by Services for the UnderServed and the Department of Social Services
- Assume responsibility for special initiatives from the Prevention and Community Support
and other organizations. - Assist the Program Management in the overall management and operational effectiveness of the program.
- Perform such other duties as may be required by Program management.
Qualifications
- REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Master of Social Work (MSW) preferred or bachelors degree (BS/BA) with enrollment in an accredited MSW program.
- Bilingual candidates are preferred but not a requirement
- Strong understanding of Department of Social Services and the criminal justice system.
- Experience working with individuals facing homelessness substance abuse issues mental health challenges and families is required.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications are essential.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
