Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

TeHerenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Clinical Practice Adviser (Senior/Consultant Clinical Psychologist) to join the clinical training programme in Te Kura Mātai Hinengaro - School of Psychological Sciences on a permanent part-time basis (0.4 FTE).

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide direct supervision to clinical psychology students in the Victoria Psychology Clinic.
  • Provide direct clinical services of the highest standard to clients.
  • Facilitate opportunities for student engagement at all levels of the clinical psychology programme.
  • Support the development and delivery of teaching activities related to the clinical programme.

Ō pūmanawa - About you

You will be an experienced Clinical Psychologist with experience working in Aotearoa. You will be passionate about investing in the future of our profession and enjoy supervising teaching and working in an intellectually stimulating environment.

Your training and work experience will be from a predominantly behavioural/cognitive-behavioural/third wave approach. You will bring your competency and knowledge of Te Ao Māori Mātauranga Māori in the context of psychology and Māori models of care to this position to assist our ongoing goal of a clinical training programme that authentically and coherently engages with bicultural knowledge and practice.

Key requirements:

  • A New Zealand registered Psychologist in the Clinical Psychology Scope of Practice with at least 5 years of clinical experience.
  • Experience as a Clinical supervisor.
  • Competency and knowledge of evidence-based clinical psychology practice.
  • Competency and knowledge of Te Ao Māori Mātauranga Māori in the context of psychology and Māori models of care.
  • Established relationships with the local clinical community is desirable.
  • Preference will be given to individuals with demonstrated ability in teaching and training in appropriate areas of current need and/or university setting.
